Board Features - Terrell Jones

Each month, we’ll be highlighting a different member of the board of Faith in Harm Reduction to share more about the people, practices, and values behind our work and the movement at large.

In a phrase or sentence, what is one dream you have for the world?

That we all can live in peace, harmony, unity one day.

What does "Faith in Harm Reduction" mean to you?

That you can’t go wrong.

Tell us something about the work you do in Harm Reduction

My work really consists of education. I build on my life experiences and I bring information to the community about supply, resources, funding opportunities - anything to educate.

What is one Harm Reduction related resource you love?

All of them. I say that to say that people need to pick the one that’s right for them at the time. If I bring a list of what we have, I want you to pick what you need.

Who or what inspires you in this work?

The people who use drugs. I know that on any given day, their life can change just like mine. I always have hope.

What's one thing you want to see more of in Harm Reduction movements?

I’d like to see more work done around stimulant use. When it comes to opioid drugs, we’ve got books and all types of education but because of the drug supply being tainted, more people are using stimulants. The drugs game changes so much - we have to continue to educate ourselves on prevention messages we can have for people.

Where do you find your own spiritual sustenance?

It comes from the people I gather with. I feel great when I’m around the people in Harm Reduction - especially Faith in Harm Reduction. It renews my strength and reminds me of what I’ve been through and how without spirituality, I wouldn’t be here today.

Any final call to action you’d like to share?

A call to action is more education on what’s being done to us. Not to react but to be strong and dig down deeper - hold on and seek greater understanding.
